- Sheldon -

I made note of the name Sheldon after taking a call at work - yes, I actually had a customer named Sheldon. I thought it was quite fitting for this thoughtful reader.

- Woodson -

Named after another friend / co-worker - a combination of Judson and Woodward - Woodson is our resident hippie... and he has a bushel of sticks.

- Pan -

So, I think that's supposed to be a lantern he's holding, but it also looks like it could be a liquor bottle (surely gnomes like to have a sip once and awhile too.) I opted for the lantern approach for this project and thought fireflies would accent him nicely - and I do have to say that I really like how the fireflies turned out. As for the name Pan, this little guy has a sticker on the bottom of his foot that says, you guessed it, Made in Japan... seemed like a good fit.

- George -

George here is named after a friend of ours... it may be a bit of a stretch, but Ben and I both agree that he's very George-esqe.

- Fredric -

As it turns out, the colors - both fabric and floss together - may be some of my favorites... the magenta just really pops against the light and bright greens. What's more cheerful than a pink gnome...?

Feelin' Scrappy

I trimmed up all the completed squares all at once, resulting in a really pretty pile of gingham scraps... Is anyone else out there ever surprised at how the "trash" can turn out pretty sometimes too?

- David & Liesl -

These two may be my favorite gnomes and definitely one of my most favorite things... I found this cute little couple on eBay, it's a vintage (70's) Gift of Gorham piece -and- a music box (it plays Close to You)! The shipping cost more than the item itself, and it's in perfect condition... super find for sure.

- Herbert -

This guy is named after a friend / co-worker of ours with the last name Hebert (pronounced a-bear)... which often gets mispronounced as Herbert and who also happens to want to grow mushrooms someday.

- Otto -

Not too many things to mention on Otto here, just planning on adding in some background detail later. I'm still mulling over what I want to put in the back, so you'll see him again down the road.

- Nez -

French for "nose" (pronounced neigh) - since he's a little beat-up and missing, well, his nose.

Update

Alright... so I've been thinking about how I've been posting photo updates of the Gnome-n-cla-ture quilt project, and I'm just not that happy with the posts. The photos are usually taken from my iPhone, and all wrinkly and messy. So I've ironed, trimmed, and re-shot the pieces and decided I'm going to re-post all of them (sorry.) I hope these new photos better show all the detail and stuff... enjoy!
